Home 04:10
Home (B.R. Wood) I’m the stay-at-home type trapped in the body of an adventurer Endlessly adventuring all over the land I travel through the shadowy valley High up over the mountain deep down in the cave Well I’ve woken up in bedrooms with the sunlight on the floorboards I’ve woken up to music and the smell of toast and tea And I’ve knocked on many front doors and I’ve passed through many hallways I’ve seen some beautiful hat stands but I just can’t seem to hang my hat I’m a lay-about playing the part of an action man I wish I was good for nothing cause nothing is so good for me I’m a settler got caught up in exploring Trying to kick the habit and stay in one place Well I’ll see a beautiful garden and I’ll lay there for a moment There’s a whole world in a garden and so many gardens in the world Oh my life’s packed up in boxes and it’s spread al over the country It’s waiting there in darkness to be thrown out or moved in I’m a homebody all dressed up like a party boy Sipping my margarita and dreaming of a cup of tea I’m just a bunch of molecules doing time as a human A bag full of Identity I carry around And I wish I was a Badger a Lizard or a Grizzly A Polar or a Kodiak hell any kind of bear I would amble through the summer I would hibernate through winter curled up In my cozy cave beneath a sign that says “There’s no place like Home”

Kiss Me 03:46
Kiss Me (B.R.Wood) There’s a storm on Jupiter twice as big as the earth Back in the seventeenth century astronomers saw it first Three hundred years later it’s still going strong And it wont’ blow itself out until long after we’re gone So come on… Kiss me The court of Alexandria was dredged up out of the sea Great granite columns statues and streets Cleopatra’s palace and the home of Mark Antony Those lovers topped themselves back in 30 BC So come on… Kiss Me And did you hear about Pluto? Oh… don’t it go to show One day you’re a big important planet Ahh… It’s easy come Easy go Back in the dawn of time people danced around the fire Beating drums of animal skins throwing hands up to the sky Cut to the other night we were dancing to the band Somewhere in the middle of the third set I forgot who I am Cut to the year 3000 if we make it that far We’ll be dancing to the latest beat in a club on a Terra-formed mars Come on… Kiss me

The World Inside My Mind (B.R.Wood) I’ve collected a bag full of fears I picked them up here and there over the years Fears of the cockroaches under the sink Fears about people and what they might think Fears about money and losing in love Of life being all too much or not enough I’ve accumulated pages of lists Intentions, hopes and things that I wish Things to get done before I’m dead and dozens of books on the shelf that I haven’t yet read and these questions asking what life’s all about I don’t really want answers I just love the figuring out and I figure away the time in the world… Inside my mind… I’ve gathered a head full of thoughts Some were forced on me others I bought Some about failure loss and gain Some about growth and time and change One about love being all that you need and one about truth setting you free I have stocked up a warehouse of words that I shuffle around and ship out to the world To make someone laugh with a joke or two or share something useful fruitful or new Like the threads of thought in this song unraveling now carried to you on waves of sound Into your ears and through to your brain and so this song plays… Inside your mind… How’s it going up there? Up there in your head… I’ve discovered a river of grace I drift along on it at an easy pace Well it’s row row row gently down stream Into the ocean the source of this curious dream That asks me to choose what I make it all mean and I know that I am everything I believe Yet I know that I’m not what I think I am Yet I know that I am

Believe 03:48
Believe (B.R. Wood) Where do you start? Where does anyone? Look into you heart where the dreams come from In some hidden place they lie in eager longing They’re waiting to be made Can you hear them calling So easy to ignore So many fine reasons The same old excuses for every new season But they know who you are and they want to set you free And they know that you can do it You’ve just got to Believe in what you can’t see You can have it be Believe You got to believe Wake up from your sleep What you sow you’ll reap Believe me Look around Life is calling. Calling you on to the dance floor Go on pick up a few steps I know you get lost out there But check out the other dancers No one’s really sure No one’s got the answers You’ve gotta take a leap and be with whatever happens You’ve got to fall over if you’re ever to get balance And it mightn’t go to plan there’s no need to understand But you’ve got to Believe in what you can’t see You can have it be Believe You got to believe Wake up from your sleep What you sow you’ll reap Believe me What did you give up on? What did you settle for? How long you gonna wait? What are you waiting for? When will you be ready? How will you know? When are you gonna stop stopping yourself goin’? They say it’s never too late What do you reckon? Have you really missed the boat Or are you just chicken? Well the chicken crossed the road Got to the other side and there the green grass grows, lush and long and wild In twenty billion years the earth’ll fall into the sun and in the meantime battles are lost and won What’s the point of it all? What makes it worth while? What’s gonna help you sleep? What’s gonna make you smile? What’s gonna make a difference on this big blue ball as it hurtles through space On and on and on and on it goes, so… Get out your canvas Get out your pen Get out your power tools Get with some friends Get out of your head Remember to breathe Forgive yourself everything Believe… in what you can’t see You can have it be Believe You got to believe Wake up from your sleep What you sow you’ll reap Believe me

Flirting In The 21st Century (B.R.Wood) I have been a while now hibernating When I saw you at the party I started awakening I found myself asking your friend if you were single When she said that you were my body started to tingle And I frowned as I walked home Thinking about you begin all alone It’s a cold winters night and you got no one to cuddle you it doesn’t seem right. Hey la dee ‘n’ da I just saw a shooting star or it could have been a satellite Wishing on space junks maybe not right But I made a wish any way And if it was a surveillance craft orbiting above taking photographs What it would see as it zoomed in was my steadily growing grin ‘cause I’m back in the game again They say that you should not judge a book by it’s cover Well I want to open you with a view to discover the story there inside your pages There’s no rush these things are best done in stages And I smiled as I walked home ‘cause I got your number it’s in my phone Is it wrong to feel such elation for a bunch of digital information? Hey la dee ‘n’ da I just saw a shooting star or it could have been a satellite Wishing on space junks maybe not right but I made a wish any way And if it was a Google Earth craft orbiting above taking photographs What it would see as it zoomed in was my steadily growing grin ‘cause I’m back in the game again I called you the next day and we went walking From Bondi beach to Coogee we were talking On the surface it was a whole lot of idle chat With a rich subtext and flickering eye contact And it’s such a beautiful day Sydney winter’s non-existent Well maybe it’s climate change Is it wrong of me not to think about that today? Hey la dee ‘n’ dee I like you and you like me Where do you wann go? There’s no path along this stretch of coast but let’s go on anyway And if there was a surveillance craft orbiting above taking photographs What it would see as from way up there is me leading the way with care Around the headlands by the sea Hoping for the opportunity to see you smile and accept my hand as I lead you over this rocky land Round the rockpools left by the tide There’s a whole universe inside The surface flickering with light It’s got us both mesmerised On a winters day that feels like spring we stand holding hands and grin at the beautiful game we’re in Hey la dee ‘n’ dee I like you and you like me Hey la dee ‘n’ da I just saw a shooting star Where’s this gonna go? Right now all we need to know Is it’s the 21st Century And I’m flirting with you and you’re flirting with me

Open To Love 04:36
Open To Love (B.R. Wood) Let’s begin our very own “once upon a time” Let’s you and I hook up our stories It’s not all easy this life The slippery dips swings and roundabouts Come on over dear Let’s you and I Open to Love Let’s open to love in the summer as the frangipani’s bloom I’ll try not to get too clever And give my heart some room We could lie down in the garden I’ll run my fingers through your hair We could soon find ourselves Out of reasons to fear Let’s tangle our pathways Get ‘em well entwined Let’s lighten up shed our armour So many blessings this life Friends and stories over cups of chai Come on over here Let’s you and I Open to love Let’s open to love in the winter out in the salty air Strolling by the ocean I could warm your ears We could watch the waves a crashing Pressed up together in the rain While the wind blows away our stories and we find out what remains

Beautiful Nothing (B.R.Wood) Beautiful Nothing Come set me free Strip me of all of my concepts Erase my memory Rob me of all my conclusions And all I believe Vaporise all my opinions So I may see Beautiful Nothing Come make me new Dismantle my dearest of doctrine Show me what’s true Show me my Brothers and Sisters Not as ideas Not as the labels and judgments created in fear Beautiful Nothing Come take my hand Lighten this heavy old burden of all I understand I’m so tired of all of this trying to be something Wanna let it all go Perhaps I will then re-discover All I don’t know All I don’t know… Like the waves on the ocean And the man in the moon And the vast and the glorious spacious and meaningless rich field of nothing that gave birth to this tune.

The Balled Of Joe, Marie And Rusty The Dog (B.R. Wood) It’s two AM and I am still wide-awake I’ve got a new song arriving and it must be played It’d be so much better if they showed up in the day but it doesn’t work that way The song is about Jo who thought Marie was the one He said I got to make her see make her mine make her love He kept reeling her in ‘til he drove her away ‘cause it doesn’t work that way Jo’s dog got run over the night Marie went away When the vet gave the verdict Jo took up praying He prayed all night Rusty died the next day cause it doesn’t work that way Jo said “I can’t go on” but his heart did not agree No matter how deep he sank he continued to breathe He said “oh let me die!” but his heart beat just the same cause it doesn’t work that way So “how does it work” I hear you say And I wish I could tell you some secret special way that would make you happy for the rest of your days but it doesn’t work that way They say that where you struggle there lies your treasure Have intent and surrender in equal measure Let your soul be your pilot Let love light the way And see how it goes that way
9.
Journey Melody (B.R. Wood) How many beats has your heart beaten? How many breaths have you breathed in? How long for did you run away before you turned around and dived right in? How many miles have you travelled? How far are you prepared to go to meet what you gotta meet to find yourself returning home? Journey travellers lets go come along The earth turns and the beat goes on Journey melody join in sing a long Feel your heart beat under the song Ba- boom ba- boom ba-boom ba- boom How far’d you crawl before you walked? How many times did you fall down? How long to learn to balance and rise up beyond the ground? How about when you got stuck? Didn’t know just what to do? How about when you took a deep breath Called for help and let it come to you? Journey travellers lets go come along The earth turns and the beat goes on Journey melody join in sing a long Feel your heart beat under the song Ba- boom ba- boom ba-boom ba- boom How many feelings have you felt? Coursing through your blood in your veins? Pain and joy and fear and love and all kinds of things you could never name How much stuff has flowed moved slid crashed and shifted through this vessel of mysteriously unravelling unfolding you Journey travellers lets go come along The earth turns and the beat goes on Journey melody join in sing a long Feel your heart beat under the song Ba- boom ba- boom ba-boom ba- boom You used to wait for guarantees Now you get on and do it You used to creep around your life Now you bravely walk on through it When you count your blessings and the grace on you bestowed When you count your lucky stars you don’t have enough fingers and toes. All is welcome here Everything belongs All is perfect here And has been all along

When You Were A Kid (B.R. Wood) Remember when you were a kid Exploring the streets of your neighbourhood A little bit further every day Expanding the boundaries the radius away from home You would set out on your own Happy to wander all alone or with your dog pulling on his lead Get down to the beach Set him free And you loved him so And you didn’t have to plan You just had to go Look there’s a plum tree better have a plum Better have a few Fill your pocket with ‘em Look there’s a new street Never been down this road Look here’s a corner Which way should I go? Well you didn’t have to decide You just had to know Now you’re older what has changed? Exploring the neighbourhood in a similar way The boundaries got bigger and little boys and girls who played on your street now work out in the world And it not what you hope It’s what you learn…

God, You Need A Haircut Hello God it’s been a while since we talked I been too busy chasing carrots dangling from the stick tied to my back I haven’t been to church in well you know how long it’s been But when Sunday morning comes around I so love sleeping in Well here’s my confession the first thing on the list Is I’m not sure I believe in you or if you even exist But sometimes in the sunshine or just after I’ve been broken I feel you’ve understood before I’ve even spoken Hallelujah I got so bored at church when I was a kid I’d sit and count the bricks in the wall One time I got to a thousand & 6 Things started looking up when I was about thirteen The church formed a youth group around the time of my first wet dream God I discovered you in the faces of those girls And their flirty Christian cuddles their crosses and their curves Father Dave was a cool guy we hung out at his place Cups of tea played guitar I felt like I’d joined the human race Hallelujah I used to try to understand in order to believe I have reversed that now and through the eyes of faith I see And I’m worried and I’m scared that by singing this song I’ll come across as born again and put people off You know some people get weird when you mention God Guess a lot of shit’s gone down in the name of the cross I guess God looks on saying “do what you will You got freedom of choice to use for good or ill” Hallelujah I could be right I could be wrong but I think it’s you God who wrote this song That’s okay cause if that’s true and song’s crap I can blame it on you Okay I’m goin’ to bed now would you please get out of my head now I really need to get some rest the sleepy mind is truly blessed I’ll see you in the sun rise hear you in the parakeets cry I’ll see you in the bathroom mirror looking at me through my own eyes Those eyes are still bright tho’ lately somewhat baggy And God you need a haircut you’re getting kind of shaggy

Sherlock Holmes Takes A Holiday (B.R. Wood) Sherlock Holmes takes a holiday He’s sick and tired of mystery He’s packed his bags and said goodbye to Baker Street and all the criminals are running free. Sherlock's put a sign on the door that says “I’ve packed my pipe and my violin I no longer own a magnifying glass I went down to the river and I chucked it in.” For so long now he’s been wondering For so long now he’s been pondering Now he knows that it’s time to live again He’s taking a holiday He’s throwing it all away He’s taken a holiday ay yay yeh Sherlock Holmes has dropped his disguises He’s showing himself as a simple Man He says “Oh, what a joy to be vulnerable to live and love sing and dance” Doctor Watson says it’s irresponsible He says that Sherlock’s letting us down Sherlock Holmes says, “screw you Dr. Watson I’m sick of deductions and thoughtful frowns…” “For so long now I’ve been thinking and into my head I’ve been sinking and sinking Now I know that it’s time to live again I’ve taken a holiday I’m throwing it all away I’ve taken a holiday ay yay yeh” Sherlock Holmes is broadening his horizons Sherlock Holmes is making new friends Sherlock Holmes has been seen at some parties Sherlock Holmes is happy again Sherlock Holmes is through with deductions implications and probabilities He no longer needs satisfactory explanations for the one big bewildering mystery For so long now he’s been wondering For so long now he’s been pondering Now he knows that it’s time to live again He’s taking a holiday He’s throwing it all away He’s taking a holiday ay yay yeh!
